Constructive Workflow
There was no lecture but our lecturer showed us tips on how to make our work more productive and to synchronize your workflow and construct how your brain works.

3. Animated Infrographic Poster
The main intention is to analyse the “delivery mechanism’s” that affect the outcomes of infographics. Though content is important, however the aim of this presentation is too look at what makes an infographic presentation work or does not work.
Infographic Poster
Poster Choosing
For the start of the assignment, we are tasked with finding posters that are badly designed in order to redesign it to be more presentable and eye-catching. We were to consult our tutorial lecturers about this before proceeding to the next stage of redesigning and I picked these 3 posters as ones I could redesign. The issues are listed below.
- The first poster was over-crowded with information and covering the images of the information.
- The second poster is simple but could be improved on by being more visually interesting.
- I feel that third poster could be put in a more unique way.
From these three posters, my tutorial lecturer suggested I go with something I was more familiar about which would be the second poster about cats. He said that the issue with the first one that I initially wanted to try redesigning was that I might overcrowd the poster with information like the designer of the poster. In the end, I chose the second poster.
Visual References
Sketches
I made 2 sketches as a drafts on what I should do for the infographic poster. The first poster was inspired by one of the visual references above. To evaluate what would be toxic to cats and what are safe to cats.
The second poster was more inspired by the visual references that are on the bottom of the collage. It was to make the poster seem more presentable in a way the eye can move and process information.
Design Process
Firstly, I went ahead to create a digital and more rendered version of the cat on the sketch poster. While I do realize that it would be be better to have used a stock image instead but decided to create an image for the cat.
I then put up the lines as to where the information would go to in the ticks and crosses. I decided to readjust the lines of the poster since the previous sketch didn't fit as much.
After this, I finally added the information for the poster. I found the images for the foods on adobe stocks and pinterest. It was hard to organize the images and information together but I did my best.
With this, I finished a simplistic and minimalistic poster that gets the point across.
After Week 5's Review, I decided to adjust the font to a rounder more kid-like font and rounded out the surfaces of the rectangles of the poster to make it look more smooth.
I adjusted the hierarchy of the title so that it would be more pleasing to look at. As per the advice of the tutorial lecturer, I also made more space for the items of food.
Animation
For the next part, I started my animation process in Illustrator as well. I first started by duplicating and making sure that every part of it was more distinct but doesn't do too much to be overwhelming.
I decided to animate the items appearing and moving as it appeared and so on to make it more eyecatching.
After I finished putting these items in place in their still images, I went on to adjust the cat's face so that it was blinking to make more action for the video animation.
Then I went onto doing the animation in Premiere Pro after I saved the art boards into one folder for the 15-30 second video and imported it into the program.
I compiled all the images and repeated it in order to create a loop so that the video could be repeated without much of a sudden repeat. Originally I thought I was done until I realised that the base poster is too big and lessened the quality of the video, making it look crusty. It was also moving around too much to be focused on.

The video did not fit the short format either. With this, I decided to apply some of the advice that the lecturer told me to put as well as adjust the size of the poster to fit the video form.
Afterwards, I did the same process with different animations. Previously, I made the items appear and disappear to make a loop. However, I was advised to let it stay and repeat its actions and so I did just that. After I did the frames below and adjusted it to animate properly by reusing some existing frames, I was fully done.

4. Feedback
Week 3
General Feedback
- Do not go for posters with too much information to avoid cramping information.
- Choose information you want to convey carefully.
- Go for something you are familiar with.
Specific Feedback
- Avoid doing Poster about Typography due to the big amount of information. Bee poster is already good.
- Go for Cat Poster since you have a cat.
Week 4
No Feedback
Week 5
General Feedback
- Make sure to check for the size of the poster and make it smaller for the video
Specific Feedback
- Make the poster less cramped and give the items more space
- Make the video more kid oriented and change the colors of the "To & Not To" to be more striking
- Let the food items stay instead of disappear.
5. Reflection
Experience:
Due to this project being within the short semester, I found it hard to finish this project 1 within the timeframe needed to complete it while juggling with the FLIP presentation and group projects that I'm in for this semester. However, the experience of making this infographic and its animation was genuinely quite fun despite me losing sleep trying to finish it in time. I believe I could've done better if I had more time or managed my time better.
Observation:
I found that it was incredibly hard to arrange the information in ways that don't look cluttered or randomly placed. Even looking at my work now, I believe it could be improved upon if I got more feedback. I also found that it was hard for me to point out what was wrong with posters that are not too well made.
Findings:
This project made me realize how important it is to recognize what is wrong with certain infographics such as cluttering of information, having unnecessary information, and an interesting design to get the attention of people who look at it. It also made me realise that I need to get out of my comfort zone more in order to design better posters while also staying true to design principles and colors.
