References/Mood Board
I looked for posters that have been done by others in the past about gender equality. After looking through all of this, I decided I wanted to express the idea of gender equality through holding hands or shaking hands between a man and woman in order to symbolize equality since it represented agreement.
Sketches
Digitization
I decided to stick to a very simple design for this poster. I first made the base of the poster in Illustrator and used a reference to guide me on how I should properly put my words. I chose the Arial typeface for this poster since the boldness of the bold Arial font was what fit best for this in my eyes.
I then added an image and took out the background of the photo in order to grasp how my idea would look. I noticed the image I chose was two men shaking hands and so I replaced the image with another more proper image for this topic.
I decided then decide too work on the background first in order to make it look interesting as well as change the color of the hands to look more interesting and eye-catching. I also added vectors I made in the background.
After being satisfied with the results of my editing of the poster, I decided to touch up the poster's words to make the piece flow well more.
Summary:
Gender Equality has always been a topic that many still debate about to this day. Like how women are often brushed off when it comes to a male dominated job area and how men are treated less than they are due to liking what people deem “feminine” in their eyes, many people are restrained to what society deems to be accepted for certain genders. Due to this, we shouldn’t forget to continue remembering that equality is not a want, but a necessity for us into the future.
